Summer Storm Rolls Along the Chesapeake Bay, Maryland, U.S.A.

Growing up on the east coast, summer lightning storms were my favorite weather event. Ever since, I've always become entranced by the presence of this phenomenon, and I take every chance to capture the beauty and power of it.
On this night, I had a rare perspective from the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay, 75 feet up on the top of the Calvert Cliffs, with a vast view across miles of water. This storm was moving out over the Atlantic Ocean as it lit up the nights sky, revealing the eastern shoreline in crisp silhouette with this particularly brilliant strike.
This exposure was captured entirely in camera using an intuitive technique, and without the use of sensors.
