In 1880, painter Édouard Manet's health deteriorated. When he painted his Still Life with Brioches and Lemons, he felt the first signs of a mysterious illness. Huysmans reports,"...Manet is exhausted by so much work, the struggles have worn out his nerves, and he has been feeling for two years the first attacks of an awful disease that will take him away: locomotor ataxia...."

With this sequel to GUS (Schmok Mathematics, Nifty Gateway, 2022), Nicolas Pol reintroduces the iconic Lemon by setting out to question, through a title-word play, the status of a programmer's tool, "console.log,” which allows one to test the proper functioning of a code under construction. And the code of this Lemon malfunctions; it becomes a log emitting the typical woody cracks of a locomotor ataxia. Incurable degenerative metamorphoses of the digital log: the code of the world breaks down. War is a malady of humanity. The ghostly voice of a priest is heard: "If everyone prayed to Saint Joseph (...) everything would be perfectly calm..."
