Yama or Yamraj is the Hindu god of death and justice. He is also known as Dharmaraja and is responsible for guiding the souls of the deceased to their respective afterlife destinations based on their karma. Yama is often depicted as a dark or blue-skinned deity with a crown and holding a scepter or noose. He is also considered one of the eight guardians of the directions in Hinduism.
