The Smallforest Project has evolved from a zine; to paying the Northwest Territorial Mint to strike a series of medals celebrating the publication of a book about medals; to paying Dick Hanscom of Alaska Rare Coins to make a Mt. Hood gold pennyweight token; to dispersing numerous counter-marked coins, medals, and so-called dollars into the collecting community; to striking coinage for Cascadia, the State of Jefferson, the State of Greater Idaho, the Kingdom of Hawaii, and more. Collectors of these items reside in a small number of countries around the world, and the implementation of blockchain technology to create digital tokens is an opportunity for these collectors to make the logical leap from the physical to the digital.
