The Heist of Gazers #390 (In Real Time)

The dedicated Gazers Discord sprung out of the Artblocks Discord on 12/29/2021 a few short weeks after mint, and is the primary venue where Gazers Collectors go to discuss all things Gazers.

On May 21, 2022 at 6:54AM Gazers #390, a beautiful and very rare Slate ("Slazer") Gazer, was stolen from OG (Original Gazer) jackΞrator who posted in the Gazers Discord: "Do not connect to facexnft.com! My gazer was just taken. #390 buy a scammer. Not sure what to do. Freaking out. Hurting right now."

Meanwhile the hacker lists Gazers #390 first at 7.5 ETH at 6:56AM. Desperate to move quickly to secure ill-gotten gains, the hacker drops the price to 7.0 ETH at 7:01AM and then to 6.5 ETH at 7:17AM, where it sits.

OG fams3_g rallying support for a fellow OG replies: "If true maybe a member of our community can purchase it and work out a sale back to jackΞrator" (8:01AM)

jackΞrator responds: "would appreciate that beyond anything. My space doodle was also ripped. So I’m in a real deep dark hole of regret right now. Fortunately it’s not going to break me but it cuts deep. My liquidity right now is not at the level of being able to get everything back today." (8:04AM)

Pulse racing to try and secure Gazer #390 before it potentially gets into the hands of an unknown collector (who does not frequent the Gazers Discord) and lost forever... Felix889 responds: "I just transferred 6ETH to my wallet to try and help secure this Gazer. Says Pending 😡" (8:16AM)

(8:17AM) Felix889 responds: "Secured OG! ❤️"

"This other guy Sergio was bidding 5.6 on it. Don’t know who that is. And was worried your Gazer would get lost"

(8:19AM) jackΞrator replies: "OMG @Felix889 thank you so much! Will DM you now to discuss this situation further"

Beloved Gazers Bot (and always a little late) notifies: "Gazers #390 bought for 6.5 ETH ($12,853.94 USD) by Buyer t8chy0n" (8:22 AM).

Felix889: "Anybody in this amazing Gazer Family with the resources would have done the exact same thing! Just happy to secure @jackΞrator’s beloved Gazer. 🙏🏼" (8:27AM).

11/6/2022 at 5:17PM, Gazers #390 is transferred back to its rightful owner jackΞrator at 8.13 ETH ($12,929.38) when Gazers Floor Price was 25 ETH (over $40,000). Many in the ArtBlocks Discord surmised this Gazer was hacked yet again, given the low price transfer sale.

"Would just like to throw a huge acknowledgment to @Felix889 who has been a custodial of my Gazer for me since it was hacked out of my wallet about 6 months ago. He snagged it quick off OpenSea from the person who stole it and I’ve finally saved up enough to cover his quick snag. I’ve been staring at it every day hoping and waiting and today is the day!
