Origin Story - Message to the Artist - Gazers Discord - January 3rd 2022, 11:40 am - Hong Kong

I have perused art galleries, art museums, art exhibitions and art markets across the globe, and I've heard gallerists speak on the power of art and its ability to stir up strong emotions. I found beauty in listening to others describe their connected emotions and I would appreciate the small emotions that would arise in me. I could clearly see the passion that people had for specific pieces they loved but I still found it hard to derive so much personal value from art.

When Gazers by Matt Kane was minting it was 4 am in Hong Kong. I expected the dutch auction sell out around 8-10 ETH and so with a heavy heart I decided it was a long shot to stay up so late, just to hope the price would come down low enough for me to mint. I decided not set my alarm and sleep. I woke up at 8am and the first thing I did was check my phone to see where the dutch auction had finished. I was ELATED to see the price within my range and jolted out of bed and started peering through traits to find one I liked. I loved that TIME was a medium. In buying my first gazer I spent almost 48 hours (with a small amount of sleep) just peering into the traits. It was during these moments that a flood of emotions washed over me. Powerful emotions such as wonder, astonishment, a sense of beauty, joy and excitement all came over me and were stronger than any emotions I'd ever felt before from any previous art. I'd never experienced art to have so many meanings, hidden details, sophisticated patterns and the use of color blew me away. It was immediately noticeable that Gazers were incredibly complex simply due to the number of traits, but what struck me right after was that despite the incredible amount of input the movement was not chaotic and quite the opposite was soothing and calming. To build something so intricate yet so simple reminded me of a watch and the beauty that is found in complex precision mechanics. I finally understood the strong emotions I would see in others around art and Gazers gave that "ah-ha" moment to me. I know I've thanked you many times already but thank you MattKaneArtist#2648 I don't think I've ever told you specifically why. The reason I wanted to share this was to simply say, if this art can do this for me I hope that it will do the same for many others who are just getting into this amazing digital art age.
