“The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself,” powerfully stated Carl Sagan. In this 'way,' our brain is the most complex, fascinating and mysterious component. But underway is a paradigm shift in the understanding of human brain function in everyday life: the "theory of predictive brain is as important to brain science as evolution is to biology." The question remains of how does the brain make sense of the world? or how does brain make contextual processing? From this viewpoint, a key function of the brain is the prediction of alternative scenarios in the future. Prof. Lars Muckli, that research in this field and is one of the leaders of the Human Brain Project, explains that “the main purpose of the brain, as we understand it today, is it is basically a prediction machine that is optimising its own predictions of the environment it is navigating through. So vision starts with an expectation of what is around the corner.”
