The world currently sits at 1.2º degrees celsius, creeping towards a breaking point of catastrophic weather that scientific research predicts will occur at 1.5º C. The early effects of climate change are becoming more present around the world, most recently seen with the flooding in Pakistan at the end of August 2022. Outside the polar regions, Pakistan has the most glaciers in the world and the intensified glacial melting, during monsoon season, released torrential flooding that has placed a third of the country underwater. Most of the global efforts have been stumbling towards meeting The Paris Climate Agreement ambitions to stop further warming before the landmark temperature.
