In the center of the forest clearing, still fresh and wet from last night's rain and the morning's moist air – a newborn Aquablue Hummingbird was growing off a tree, minutes before hatching off the bark and soaring into the sky.

The bird is considered sacred on Aquablue, a small Earth-like planet orbiting Gamma Velorum, a quadruple star system in the constellation Vela, 380 light years from Earth. Its exobiology is a total mystery, all we know is that the bird will grow off old tree barks, forming its body slowly by transforming the tree vines into bones and muscle. At exactly 90 days, the newborn Hummingbird will start moving within the thick vines cocoon and burst out straight up to the sky, announcing its birth with a powerful high-tone chirp – a magnificent sight we all appreciated as a lucky glimpse into the beauty of Aquablue nature.

Today, was one of those special days I will cherish for years to come. The hatchling was ready to soar, it was trembling within the cocoon, only its eyes moving, looking around for the first time in its life. I was very close to the bird and could feel its awakening. There is no awareness yet, only intelligence.
