An unnatural silence pervaded this dark valley. The hero shuddered as she traversed towards its distant center. The air grew colder and heavier, weighing her down. After some long hours of careful sluggish progress she reached the shattered dark monolith - the upturned pyramid. It was incredibly cold to touch, but felt alive pulsing slowly like a slow heartbeat.

The perceived corruption had been contained so far, but it has been consistently weakening the magic barriers around it. The sharp shards wanted to escape their prison and spread this affliction throughout the world. The Obsidian Valley was one of the long forgotten places. Many avoided it without knowing that it was even there.

There were multiple similar regions, but they were also carefully contained for now. There was no known remedy, as it was not a spell or a curse, but rather the unstable chaos that was seeping into the world. This powerful magic could be used to channel strongest spells and even open portals to other such places.

The hero climbed on top of the biggest obsidian fragment, she almost slipped on its unnaturally smooth surface. Catching her balance she focused on the shards before her. It felt as if her mind was being pulled in all of the different directions at the same time, on the verge of fracturing. It took all of her strength and concentration to pull the obsidian pieces together. As the structure formed, the fragments trembled violently, not wanting to touch. However, as the first pair merged, all of the others instantly followed, pulled into their places.

The center glowed brightly as the new way was opened. Only this portal could take her to the forbidden paths.
