I'm using this piece as a conversation starter regarding technology. "Metaverse" is on everybody's lips right now, and you can already see the pushback from people who are reluctant to step into this bold future.
But is pure nostalgia for nostalgia's sake valid? Because we've been hi-tech for so many years already that we feel nostalgia for old tech, not just real-world things.
My belief, and the message behind this piece, is that, even though it might look scary and intimidating at first, we can make a h(e)aven out of the metaverse. Like the pendulums in this piece, swinging back and forth, we are in the process of deciding between a dystopic or a utopic future. It's up to us to make sure it's the latter.
