As human’s we have a strong natural connection to the ocean, it’s forces are a symbol of power and tranquillity which energizes and revitalises our soul. Growing up in Sydney, Australia, my lifestyle has always been synonymous with the ocean and the beach culture that surrounds it. The feeling of the warm sun on your skin, the smell of the salt water, and the sound of the waves crashing. All feelings that I hope to portray through this series of work titled “Ocean Canvas”. As an early pioneer of aerial photography I began capturing the oceans of Australia as my main subject matter in early 2016, treating the water below as the paint to my canvas. The thing that drew me most to the ocean was it’s unpredictability and forever changing nature. With the ocean constantly in motion it creates an abstract sense of reality when viewed from above, painting different textures, colours and emotions as each second passes. This image was captured at Mona Vale Beach in Sydney's North Shore and depicts the power of the ocean from a perspective that allows us to appreciate it in it’s full capacity and witness the artistic collaboration betwen man kind and mother nature.
