The cold war, as I see it, was a fear-driven war delivered to the world starting with the first Soviet atomic bomb, the RDS-1. With it, the world has known one of the longest periods of non-direct conflict between two superpowers of the world. With so much destructive power and with its test on 29 August 1949, there was no longer just one superpower that had all the technology to annihilate entire cities, but a balance was created. So, ironically, the RDS-1 atomic bomb became the Peacemaker
