About a year ago there had been a string of murders including Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and George Floyd. This was a meaningful challenge to me because I am very passionate about social issues and empowering Black people around the world. This piece aims to embody what was going on in this period of time so that anyone who wasn’t familiar could understand. I also wanted to highlight what was going on in the LGBTQ community and the brutality they were facing. Protest and resistance were so present at that time so that's why the fist is the central element of the piece, with everything else stemming from that. I wanted to highlight all the different things that the Black community was struggling with and protesting against.
