Timothy Leary would be described by the youth of today as "the GOAT of the psychedelic revolution." A lot of dirt has been thrown on this man's name just like all pioneers who are way ahead of their time. Tim not only explored the boundaries of consciousness, he also went into prisons and used psychedelics to help rehabilitate prisoners. He did most of his early psychedelic research at Harvard, but as he became more eccentric he was "asked to leave." He then went on to do his own consciousness research outside the realms of academia. As the heat was picking up against his research he was imprisoned for 20 years for a petty marijuana charge, but then he escaped and took asylum with the Black Panthers in Algeria...He eventually made his way back into the USA where he served some more jail time...he was actually in the cell right next to Charles Manson. They would converse about their differing methods of using LSD. Tim was eventually pardoned and moved on to become one of the pioneers in the field of cybernetics...A true renegade this man risked his life and body to push the boundaries of living. It's crazy to think that Richard Nixon once dubbed this man "the most dangerous man in America." A reminder that new ideas will not always be met with praise.
