Along the way,

is a *mixed media piece that uses the heavy layering of imagery, text and experience, places and unplaces to highlight the intricate and multifaceted nature of cultural identity for myself and what Home means to me.

Using colour, texture, text and image juxtaposed against each other in a chaotic yet intentional way, upon closer inspection the viewer can discern a range of materials incorporated into the collage, including an Nigerian Ife bronze, fabrics, paint, an ankh and other disparate elements and objkts carefully arranged to create a sense of depth and narrative which pairs with it an anachronistic approach to time, both personal and historical.

Home for myself has always been linked to cultural identity which can be a complex and layered concept and using collage I wanted to illustrate this, choosing a large period of time as my stage, & the world as my home. ☽
