Fibonacci was created as an experimental collaboration between Gavin Shapiro and Arben Vllasaliu in early 2020, serving as both a showcase of their individual styles as well as a celebration of mathematics and the artistic process. Mechanical platforms rise from the center of an infinitely-scaling landscape based on the structure of the golden rectangle. Each one smaller than the next, they form a continuous track in the shape of a Fibonacci spiral, carrying a marble through an animatronic world of kinetic ornaments and dancing flamingos. Sound effects and music by Panos Pagonis further accentuate the rhythm of this hypnotic universe. Fibonacci was part of the 'Oddly Satisfying' collection auctioned at Sotheby's in March 2023.
