"Free Speech" draws its inspiration from The three wise monkeys, embodying the proverbial principle "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil".

The original monkeys are:

  • Mizaru, who sees no evil, covering his eyes
  • Kikazaru, who hears no evil, covering his ears
  • Iwazaru, who speaks no evil, covering his mouth.

In the artwork "Free Speech," Iwazaru is depicted three times, taking center stage, highlighting the moral complexities of good and evil, and emphasizing the subtle constraints that shape our conversations.

Artwork crafted in p5js using Cellular Automata. GIF file; 1080x1080 pixels; 7 frames.
