The Lindy effect is a theorised phenomenon by which the future life expectancy of some non-perishable things, like a technology or an idea, is proportional to their current age. Thus, the Lindy effect proposes the longer something has survived to exist or be used in the present, the longer its remaining life expectancy.

Cockatoos are a major lineage of the order of parrots and distributed throughout the Australasian region of the world. Estimates indicate that Cockatoos diverged from true parrots approximately 40.7 million years ago and began separating into many distinct species approximately 27.9 million years ago.

Lindy is a catch-all meme for all species of Black Cockatoo. Unfortunately due to the loss of breeding and foraging habitat the overall population trend for Black Cockatoos is declining, and is expected to continue to decline into the future. Millions of years of survival compressed into a few human generations.
