DJ Kool Herc (born Clive Campbell) arrived at my studio in West Chelsea in 2004 with promoter Matt E. Silver, who I met through Icon #51- Stephen Sprouse. Matt E. got Kool Herc the opening spot for the Chemical Brothers in New York. This created the opportunity to celebrate with a portrait shoot in my studio of a man who changed the history of music. Now, as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop, the iconic portrait immortalizes the "Father of Hip-Hop," who lit up the studio even behind his dark sunglasses.
