Brigitte Bardot (1934- ), is considered one of the most beautiful women and greatest sex symbols of all time, even though her career as an actress and singer was relatively brief. It lasted only from the late 1950s to the early 1970s and did not include a great deal of global commercial success. However her image came to represent erotic emancipation and rebellious liberation for many. Later in life her anarchistic attitude. which was seemingly a genuine attribute, continued mainly in the form of political activism, particularly with animal rights. The daisy is generally perceived to constitute innocence and purity, which is essentially antithetical to the public image that was created of her; and yet somehow perfectly aligns as a common trope of the various freedoms, sexual and otherwise associated with the era in which she had most of her notoriety.
