I painted this Totem in Amatlán de Quetzalcóatl, a town near Tepoztlán in a camping site. In the place there was a gas tank that we decided to lift to paint vertically as a Totem.

This region of southern Mexico is characterized by a mountain range full of mysteries. It is said that there are constant UFO sightings, and that even in the mountains there are dimensional portals from which lights, beings or extraterrestrial ships are hidden. I myself have witnessed these phenomena at night, it is common to see luminous objects that flash in the sky or in the middle of the mountain. In addition, Amatlán is considered the birthplace of a wise and mythical Toltec ruler named Ce Ácatl Topiltzin, considered the fifth incarnation of the god Quetzalcóatl. It is because of this quality of the place that I opted for a theme that alluded to the mystical connection between the inhabitants of the region, entities from other dimensions, and the transformation of man into god. In the first level we see a Nahua character with a headdress made of plants and corn, common crops in the region; connecting with an alien-like entity. Above them, a jaguar mask, a very important symbol in ancient Mexico, related to the night and the supernatural, to the power of rulers, warriors and shamans. The third level represents an unspecified god. From my perspective as a whole, this Totem is a representation of the journey for personal and spiritual growth. The connection with other realities to rise to the level of the mystical warrior and finally become gods.
