Artists Laima Oržekauskienė-Ore & Mantas Talmantas

A story about MARRIAGE most often goes silent with the words "they lived a long and happy life".

Joyful Life Story depicts a naked married couple covered with Orthodox liturgical vestments (forgetting the trousers) and canonical symbols of Christian iconography (a hand giving a blessing) mixed with a combination of signs showing victory/freedom that have multiple meanings have many more subtexts than just a division of family roles in a secular society.

Laima Oržekauskienė-Ore is one of the most compelling textile artists in Lithuania and a recipient of the National Prize for Culture and Art. She has also received the Silver Medal at the 15th Lodz International Triennial of Tapestry in Poland, a Diploma at the Biennial of Lithuania Textile in 2016, 2018, and 2020, and was chosen Best Artist at the ArtVilnius’15 art fair. She has held solo exhibitions abroad in Japan, India, Austria, Denmark, Italy, and other countries. With her work, she has established her creative principle of combining the classical and avant-garde – an approach now being used by many textile artists.

Mantas Talmantas is an educator as well as artist and film maker. Talmantas specialises in fields of animation, illustration, 3D animation, photogrammetry and VR. Graduated from Vilnius art academy and international school of new media in Lubeck, where he studied photography, documentary filmmaking and media technologies.
