As a documentary photographer, I always seek the moment and the light in our everyday lives to tell human stories. I would like to tell stories about the importance of seafarer’s work through my unique perspective of the split screen view (bird's eye view of the ship deck and whirling blue ocean). This shot is an important and rare moment of a sailor working onboard the ship. Third officer carries out the inspection of Gas Tight Suit on board while sailing in the South Atlantic Ocean. The inspection is to make sure the gas tight suit is in good condition and ready for use in life-threatening emergencies like accidental gas leakages on chemical tankers. This is an vital maintenance job on board in order to save lives in marine emergencies. It was captured on the same vessel after 7 years of the first shot in the split-screen series. This split-screen view was seen from the bridge’s wings of the ship.
