Former MLB player, Micah Johnson, is a self-taught creative who has transcended mediums and industries to deliver his message of empowering people to “Build Worlds Around Dreams”. Micah has achieved numerous milestones which include but are not limited to being featured on the cover of TIME Magazine, auctioned at Christie’s and becoming the first sponsored creator by Visa who created a new program specifically to support Micah’s mission

1. What inspired you to become an artist? When I was with Dodgers my manager Dave Roberts called me to the front of the class and asked me what I liked to do. I nervously said “paint” although I had never painted before in my life outside of a paint n sip class I went to right before Spring Training. So he made me make a painting of Maury Wills and present it to the team. It was awful but my teammates said how talented I was and that boost of confidence motivated me to pursue art.

2. What was the first artwork you sold? The First painting I ever sold was a painting I did for my first show ever at Dodger Stadium the same season I discovered painting. I’m not sure why I thought I was good enough to have an Art show at Dodger stadium but, I did & I’m grateful to the people who bought my first works!

3. What was the most meaningful piece you created? This project is honestly one of the most meaningful works.

4. Share your experience creating the Clock. I was able to really spend time reflecting on my life and some pieces of it that I haven’t really shared publicly before. It is a diary that I never wrote before.
