This piece was inspired by the effects of the drug, Ecstasy, and the reality of its use and the use of other pleasure induced drugs in the lives of humans. I represented the drugs with balloons of different colors because the drug, Ecstasy comes in different attractive colors.
From a quick look, one would see people tied to these balloons and are being lifted into the sky, which portrays the feeling of being high and ecstatic. The body language of the people tied to these balloons describes the state most people usually before they resort to the use of drugs in pursuit of pleasure and relaxation.
A closer look however would show you other possibilities of being tied to the drug. When these pleasure induced drugs wear off, the users fall and crash back to reality hence experiencing a much worse feeling than before they used the drugs.
And finally, a much closer look would also show how the balloons (drugs) somewhat looks like they're ending the lives of some of those tied to it and this is the reality with drug abuse and overdose.
I incorporated colorful clouds and a rainbow to depict an ecstatic and happy environment as with the feeling the comes with the use of Ecstasy.
