Church’s Current Status: Abandoned

From the outside, this church-school combo was very unassuming. Had we have not done our research, we would have never known it was abandoned. We rolled up at sunrise and as we made our way inside the building, the smell of smoke greeted our nostrils. The first room we entered was a gymnasium, which appeared to have recently suffered from a small fire - hence the smell. We quietly poked around until we found the church. We entered the sanctuary and I had not seen architecture like this, in an abandoned church before. The cupola caught my eye; it was adorned with the most vibrant stained glass, that shone in the morning light. Before I started shooting, I froze in my tracks for a brief moment to take it all in. This is what exploring is all about.
