"There’s nothing genius about it! Oh dear, you aren't really pretending that you create art, right? You're not fooling anyone with this.

They’ll only love you if you're dead at 27. But you’re 30 and alive."

This painting is a tribute to my favorite painting by my favorite artist, "The Demon Seated" by Mikhail Vrubel. His Demon—forms of the strength of the human spirit; constant internal fight; the way to confidence. My demon is obviously a woman, and she’s split into two parts. Both of them are her. The unique elements of Vrubel’s backgrounds are used here, but in a modern interpretation. I'm using glitching effects and dozens of layers with overlaying waves and squares to create the illusion of flickering, which is inherent in his paintings.

With full sincerity, with this painting I want to invite the viewer into the inside process of creating art, which is familiar to many artists. The unconditional love and enjoyment of creating art mix with the constant need for evidence of the results. The more you know, the more you have second thoughts. The bigger your plans, the louder this voice laughs at them.
