The 2nd piece in The Retirement Series is a collaboration with one of the most genuine, humble dudes I’ve ever met. Drift agreed to do this collab and help me share this story with no hesitation. I’m extremely grateful for him and this experience.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but I could easily spend a lifetime talking about this one. Where to start? The smell of the grass. The dirt. The beer. The hotdogs, bubble gum, and sunflower seeds.
A home away from home. I spent most of my professional career in Chicago. The memories. The wins and the losses. The hits and the strikeouts. The sun directly in my eyes as I play right field towards the end of a day game. The energy of the city after we won the World Series.
Every emotion possible is captured in this picture. The transition from baseball player to artist. Cleats to vans. Paying homage to @DrifterShoots who will be known as one of the best photographers of all time.
The experience on the roof and joining Drift’s squad was something I’ll never forget. The teamwork. The adrenaline. The nervousness. The hugs and laughter. The shot. Never in a million lifetimes did I think “Hanging Up My Cleats” would look anything like this. But here we are.
