The evil eye has been around for over 5,000 years. It first appeared on Chalcidian drinking containers known as 'eye-cups' in the sixth century BC. Many cultures in the Mediterranean region, as well as Western Asia and Central Asia, think that getting the evil eye may bring misfortune or damage, while others believe it is a supernatural power that reflects a hostile glance back on those who want harm on others. There were times in my life when I felt as if an eye was fixed on me. It saw right through me, as if I were made of glass, and reflected brilliant rays in the dead of night.
