The Field of the Cloth and Gold was a historic event between King Henry VII of England and King Francis I of France. The purpose of the event was to strengthen the bond between the two kingdoms and to display their wealth and power to the rest of Europe. The event lasted two weeks and was filled with grand feasts, jousting tournaments.

Seen: Capuchin, a cloak with friar’s cowl and long pointed hood. An elongated hood denoted a symbol of punishment or shame. With inspiration from Watercolour Drawing of a Man in Red, Designer Unknown, c.1875 - c.1920
