Although the CryptoPhunks collection had been delisted from OpenSea, a back door exploit allowed people to buy Phunks for the last price they were listed for.
Many Phunks were stolen for a small fraction of the floor price at the time.
OpenSea's response was to minimize and bury the existence of the exploit, and offer those affected hush money.
This exploit still exists today.
OpenSea has done nothing to fix it.
Phunks Phacts is an illustrated storyboard birthed with the goal of making the conceptual art of the CryptoPhunks and NotLarvaLabs easier to approach and understand. Through the power of satirical illustrations, this project aims to make this matter more accessible to everyone and to convey its message in a direct, funny, and provocative way.
The illustrations are 100% digitally hand drawn by me; an Italian illustrator and Phunk holder. My satirical illustrations work to create a storyboard that chronicles the most relevant matters of the CryptoPhunks story. However, the story does not end with me – thanks to the use of a Creative Commons CC0 license, my illustrations and even the entire storyboard are available for free use by the community.
