we talked about how fire scares me, and how we'd burn our fingertips when lighting candles so carelessly.

but now our light is flickering, and darkness seems to loom and grow, while shadows laugh and draw us nearer. they’ve been waiting for us for a long time, but now they’re here.

and even as the darkness seems to grow, I choose to see the beauty in what we had, even if it's no longer here to be had.

I choose to think back to the times when it shined like a star, filled with love and heartbreak's decree. where stars danced around us. where shadows hid in corners collecting dust.

where we didn’t have to look back to remember brighter moments because we were making better moments.

the shadows will haunt and the guilt will take hold, we'll face our past in hopes to make things right.

for our light was not just a mere flame, It is an eternal flame that still remains. even though it may not be seen anymore, Its warmth is felt.
