Photography has helped me cope with the anxiety and depression I experienced early on in life. Whenever I had my camera, it felt like an escape from my busy mind. By capturing an image, I could release the whirlwind of emotions inside my chest.
Over the years, my camera and passion for photography allowed me to see many different corners of our planet. I loved experiencing new cultures, meeting new people, and seeing incredible landscapes all over the world.
I had a complex relationship with my hometown because it reminded me of my past, the struggles I kept pushing away and didn't want to deal with. Traveling was a great way to escape all of it, and I felt homesick for the places I have never known.
Imagine living in one of the most picturesque places on earth but longing for the furthermost destinations in search of a place I could call home.
Today I know that growing up in the Dolomites has been the biggest blessing. Not only for the incredible scenery but also for how it shaped me as a creative. My camera is a passport, and traveling the world has opened my eyes and given me perspective on never taking my roots for granted.
Looking at this photograph, I feel like I am still standing up on that meadow overlooking my hometown and feeling complete bliss. There is something about the colors that feel like a warm hug from nature. A hug you can feel all over your body that gives you a sense of safety and home.
Whenever someone asks me, "Where is Home?" I think of this view right here.
