I had struggled to get a photo I liked from Puijo, Kuopio. Photographers loved the place, and so did I, but I still struggled, until this day.

It was one of the last days my girlfriend was in Finland before travelling back to Germany. She and I went to Puijo. I had wanted to take a top-down photo of snowy trees for a very long time. But I still wanted it to be a unique photo.

I started the drone and started searching for a “perfect tree”. I wanted to have a tree in the middle of the photo as a focal point.

After a long while, I found one just when I didn’t have much battery left anymore. I thought the tree was great. I took a few photos that I’d later combine in the post to a panorama.

In the post-processing, I loved even more how to photo came out. The tree in the middle was highlighted and you could see “the roundness of Earth” the way the trees are distorted.

After some time, my girlfriend pointed out the trees looked like snowflakes from this perspective. And I thought what a great spot. That’s how this photo got its name.

The backyard by Hugo Korhonen collection image

After the success of his first collection, Hugo Korhonen continues to expand his story with photos taken in his hometown he has lived his whole life, Kuopio, Finland.

Kuopio has worked as Hugo’s ”training ground” for his photography, and life overall. Hugo had some good moments here, but also a lot of bad ones. This is the town where he got very bullied and depressed. Hugo could find so many negative memories about the city, but he chooses to focus on the positive things that happened here.

Hugo didn’t travel all the time to new places, so he practised locally. He went repeatedly to some spots again and again since that is what he had.

All the photos in this collection are taken in his hometown and half of them are within 6km of where he lives. Hugo wanted to highlight that you can take great photos in your hometown.

There will not be any more NFTs added to this collection after launch.
