Confucius, who was active in ancient China, is widely believed to be the founder of Confucianism. The Analects, a compilation of his words, spread throughout East Asia and had a great influence on people's morals and ethics. The five precepts are morals that people should always follow. It is said to consist of "Benevolence, Righteousness, Courtesy, Wisdom and Faith", and Confucius emphasized "Benevolence" and "Respect" the most.

Jin means compassion and affection for others. Rei is an expression of benevolence. It is easier to understand if you think of the ideal way of holding a person's heart as a human being, and the expression of benevolence in an appropriate manner as a courtesy.
