“Sweet dreams” is an old expression which has been used when saying Good Night to someone retiring for the evening. It means exactly what you’d think—you’re hoping that the person going to bed will have pleasant dreams. The thing is—the majority of dreams aren’t exactly sweet or pleasant. They’re usually filled with the anxieties and worries that we bury in the subconscious during the day.
