Cascade Dreamscape
From a moment of mind blowing beauty in the heart of the North Cascades National Park, Washington.
21 miles deep in one of the most remote sections of mountains in the contiguous United States, Mount Challenger is the glacial reward for making the hefty voyage this far into the landscape.
My friend, David, and I had awoken at our campsite surrounded by howling fog and water droplets pouring onto our tents. We assumed that the storm from the day before was still unleashing its force onto us, but to our surprise we were just within an inversion layer. As we climbed higher along the trail, the inversion became more and more evident. These conditions are something every photographer dreams about, but seldom sees.
This moment of being above the clouds and having Mount Challenger greet us after traveling deep into it's landscape made for one of the most incredible experiences of my life within the North Cascades.
A collection of 30 1/1 images captured amongst the rugged mountains of the North Cascades in Washington, by Daniel Fowler. Over 200 miles traveled on foot, over 100,000 feet of elevation gain climbed, almost four years of persevering in the mountains, and well over 150,000 photographs taken...welcome to Cascade Dreamscape.
Throughout my life, I dreamt of going on adventurous expeditions to the farthest reaches of our planet, especially the remote mountains here in the United States. Over the past few years, I've had the privilege of being able to document these fragile environments and have seen first hand just how quickly they are changing due to climate change. These photographs are just brief moments frozen in time that help document the beautiful glaciated landscapes of the North Cascades.
