Cascade Dreamscape
From a moment of pure bliss atop the barren summit of Vesper Peak in the North Cascades.
A slight breeze to hold off the swarming mosquitoes, the smell of wildfire smoke filling the atmosphere, and the picturesque alpine lake line up possibly in existence in the glorious North Cascades. Vesper Peak was another one of those summits from which I had seen photographs of over the years but hadn't set foot on myself until September 2022.
Another solo backpacking adventure filled with the sounds of cascading creeks, the crunch of gravel and stones beneath my shoes, and the stunning beauty of the mountains. Somehow, the elements were in my favor and the wildfire smoke that plagued the air during these warmer months was held at bay and allowed me to enjoy the vistas from this summit. Golden light rays cast down upon the glacial lake far below where I stood, wildflowers clung to the rocky cliffs overlooking the scene, and views of Three Finger and White Horse Mountain were directly in front of me, forcing my mind to plan for future objectives of these peaks.
A collection of 30 1/1 images captured amongst the rugged mountains of the North Cascades in Washington, by Daniel Fowler. Over 200 miles traveled on foot, over 100,000 feet of elevation gain climbed, almost four years of persevering in the mountains, and well over 150,000 photographs taken...welcome to Cascade Dreamscape.
Throughout my life, I dreamt of going on adventurous expeditions to the farthest reaches of our planet, especially the remote mountains here in the United States. Over the past few years, I've had the privilege of being able to document these fragile environments and have seen first hand just how quickly they are changing due to climate change. These photographs are just brief moments frozen in time that help document the beautiful glaciated landscapes of the North Cascades.
