William Wrigley Jr. first came to Earth-721 with a dream: To spread his favorite alien technology among human beings. This was The Peacemaker.

The device emitted an inaudible tone. When played in times of conflict, all animosity ceased. Participants in an argument or even combat would stop, look at each other, and instantly start laughing.

However, this device proved to be unpopular among humans. There were entire economies and civilizations built on monetizing conflict, from the legal profession to the munitions industry.

In order to incentivize others to buy The Peacemaker, Wrigley offered two packs of chewing gum to anyone who purchased one. This campaign proved to be wildly successful.

However, when Wrigley was successfully sued by the manufacturers of the Pacemaker for trademark infringement, all Peacemakers were destroyed.

His chewing gum business, however, lived on. And the politicians and professionals of Earth-721 were satisfied. The best that Wrigley could do from here on was to popularize the phrase "chew on it," a message to remind human beings to think before fighting.
