We were free to become whatever we want, to dream up palaces to roam, beasts to slay, and armies to command.
Then we grow up. The dreams we conjured turn into ghosts we must carry. Sometimes they burdened us; these unlived futures. Sometimes we wonder if our child self will be proud of us.
