In this work, artist Nikos Probst explores the influence of artificial intelligence on sculptural form-finding processes. For this purpose, he let program a so-called Generative Adversarial Network (GAN). The GAN was trained with 3D data of 2000 sculptures from different museums worldwide. After the training, the GAN was able to independently generate new 3D models of sculptures from the data set. This data can now be used as a template for creating real sculptural objects. In this exploration, the artist is not only interested in how technology and industrial processes will change artistic creation in the future, he particularly wants to investigate the collaboration with artificial intelligence. In this collaboration, a network of human and non-human actors emerges, who seem to be working equally important on an artistic work. This leads to new aesthetic categories as well as questions about how artistic creation can be simulated through automated processes.
