1/1 Edition.
Taken in 2013, this self portrait went viral shortly after I posted it, becoming my most popular (and most stolen) piece of work to this day. The funny thing is… I almost never posted it. I didn’t think it would gain any traction in the online world. Why? My work was always known for being real scenes without any digital manipulation (other than colour/light/tone adjustments). This was the first and one of the only times I ever manipulated my work to add more story to the image.
The early morning fog, the autumn tree, and me running to and from the tree was real. I took several images, threw leaves into the air, and cloned the leaves from the shoot into this one image of me running away from the tree. It was a simple experiment and a personal creation of joy for me, one that I didn’t even intend to post publicly… but I ended up loving it too much to keep it to myself. It became a personal favourite.
And also the world’s favourite. Funny how life works sometimes!
