Most of my work is a loose collection of ideas and observations in many ways and less about one specific narrative or motif. Normally my assemblages attempt to transpose the disjointed remnants of media, advertising and culture into tangible yet uncertain studies of what it means to be human. However, this image, never completely defined or fixated, focuses mainly on love. Specifically self-love. Inviting the viewer to contemplate the meaning behind self-love. As far as I can tell, self-love is not about being selfish or egotistical. It is about recognizing our own value and treating ourselves with the same kindness and compassion that we would offer to others. It involves taking care of our physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, and prioritizing our own wellbeing. Self-love is important because it helps us to build resilience and cope with the challenges that life presents. When we love ourselves, we are better equipped to deal with setbacks and failures, and we are more likely to bounce back from adversity. Self-love also helps us to develop a sense of self-worth and confidence, which allows us to pursue our goals and dreams with greater enthusiasm and determination. But above and beyond my ideas of self-love, hopefully this collage ignites the viewer to bring some of their own insights aboutf self-love to the table. I never want to dictate exactly what the observer thinks or feels, I only want to steer. The aim of this work isn’t to project love, it is to reflect love.
