Lost god,
The painting can be interpreted as a metaphor for the journey of self-discovery of the human spirit. The stone face represents the potential that lies within each of us. The lush green forest represents the comfort zone that we often settle into. The birds represent the freedom we seek and the desire to awaken.
The sunlight shining on the face represents the hope that we can achieve our full potential, despite all odds.
However, the fact that the face is still asleep suggests that many of us are still too comfortable and have not yet awakened.
The painting is a reminder that we have the innate potential to be great. However, we must be willing to step outside of our comfort zones and challenge ourselves in order to achieve our full potential. The birds flying towards the sunlight, which represents hope.
To the observer, a lost god she might be, but a god nonetheless, for that which is lost can always be found. Nothing is ever truly lost.
