A soft sea-mist hangs on the edge of flower-covered cliffs on Cornwall’s south coast, with the distant Logan Rock stretching out into the azure Atlantic Ocean. Cornwall, in the south west of the United Kingdom is a truly spectacular area. It has some of the most beautiful and interesting coastal landscapes, with tall rocky cliffs interspersed with wonderful sandy bays and azure seawater. It is also very well known for its tales of smugglers, and has a strong history of independent and hard-working locals. The relics of chimney stacks, from the derelict tin mines, scatter the landscape. I came across this colourful bouquet of wildflowers growing in the gaps between the ancient granite boulders on the cliff-side one misty evening. It was the perfect combination of colour and form, and just what I needed as a foreground to frame the stunning view along the coast to Logan Rock, with its tall pillars of smooth rock.
