As sunlight streams into a small bluebell woodland, shadows of trees stretch across the purple carpet of spring flowers.
Bluebells - a species of hyacinth - appear in ancient woodlands in early spring, creating a wonderful spectacle for the senses! The perfect time to capture them is early in the morning or late in the evening, just as sunlight radiates across the delicately scented carpet!
I love spring flowers and, in the area where I live - the Yorkshire Wolds - I am spoiled with a glut of woodlands and valleys where countless species thrive, despite a national reduction in these habitats. Some of my favourites include bluebells, cowslips, wood anemone, cow parsley, primroses, orchids and wild garlic. All easily found within a short journey from my doorstep.
