An English woodland carpeted by the spring splendor of wild bluebells - a sight to take your breath away! This is also one of the best indicators of an ancient habitat.
The small, delicate curled flowers are a species of hyacinth, and their pale blue colour contrasts beautifully with the bright greens of spring leaves, newly sprouting from the woodland trees.
This photograph was taken in a small woodland on my local landscape - the Yorkshire Wolds. The area is a beautiful chalk upland and was recently made famous by the artist David Hockney, who painted and drew the landscape I photograph.
As the spring evening sunlight faded, I managed to find the perfect combination of tree trunks and the sunlit and shaded flower heads below fresh, lime green foliage.
