AI Glitch Scapes marks the next step in my almost 30 years of creating art and 10 years as a photographer.
It is a crossover of my photographic work, AI art and glitch art. It is a move to break the chains of the established rules in photography.
I use AI to open up a new universe of possibilities. It feels like working with an assistent. I just have to explain what I want and it makes the changes.
But thats not enough. Its just the first step of a long process.
A photograph of my fiancée in the old town of Cambridge, is the base of the whole piece.
I use it to guide the AI along with some text prompts to generate some AI renders. In the next step I use Photoshop to merge dozens of AI renders together and bring them to life in After Effects.

The Story:
Walking through the streets of a town like Cambridge is like walking through history. How many of the most brilliant minds on our planet, have walked along these streets long before they changed all of our lives with their incredible inventions and innovations?
How many of them were alone, faraway from home, struggling with university and life.
They were on their way to change everything. On their way, walking towards the light, but still in the middle of a long road.
The stroke from the wing of a butterfly could be enough to change, not only their life, but also the life of all of us.
The glitch in this artwork represents the fragility of everything. Nothing is proven until it’s present. There are millions of possible ways, and just one decision is able to change everything.

Creating these kind of artworks was a feeling of freedom which I was searching for many years.
I still love to take photographs, and will never stop. But in pieces like this, I am able to showcase my deepest self.
It helps me to express myself in a way like never before.

But thats not enough for me. Its just the first step of a long process.
I used my pictures to guide the AI in addition with some text prompts to generate some AI renders. I created several hundred outputs of every single element in the picture. At the end I used dozens of them to merge them together to one single piece in photoshop. The result is a painting lookalike version.
In the final step I created different versions, of specific parts of the picture, to animate glitch effects together with the original picture in After Effects.
