“The time is now sisters, to take that mask off and defy this world that since the beginning of its history has been ruled by unforgiving men that have done nothing but dictate what a woman should be and what a woman should do, keeping us away from the spotlight whenever they could, and filling our minds with ideas that have made us lose our sense of identity as women.
I take this mask off - the mask that my mother, my grandmother and all the women before me have worn their entire lives. The mask that has made sure we didn’t pass the line, the mask that has made us believe we are not strong, smart or capable enough, the mask that has judged and sexualised us because of our bodies, the mask that reminded us over and over again that there are things that “women are just not made to do” , the mask that has been on our faces for so long we don't realize we are wearing. Today I am taking this mask off and wearing my freedom and pride instead.”
